Les Enfants de Dieu (EDD) (French, lit. "The Children of God")

Type of project: Home for street children (boys)
Aim: Furnish a secure place for street children where they can get food, have place to sleep, can go to school and in which the integration into society is enabled.
Brief description:
Les Enfants de Dieu is a non-profit organisation working in Rwanda. It was founded in 2002. Its purpose is to adopt street children, to rehabilitate them and to integrate them as quickly as possible into society, be it at home with their parents, with foster parents or in local residential communities. At the moment over 100 children live in this home. The infrastructure is really rudimentary and there is still a lot to do. The difference to SCANN is that the children take a more active role and have to engage themselves. For this reason they elect their own ministers who have their own departments. They need to find solutions to their problems for themselves, first. There are ministers for administration, health, education, home affairs, sports and culture, agriculture and social affairs.
