SCANN (Street Children’s Assistance Network of Nakuru.)
Place: Nakuru, Kenia
Type of projects: Home for street children (boys)
Aim: SCANN is decided to give a chance to these children of living a normal life, just as every child on Earth deserves it.
Brief description:
SCANN was founded by different associations in Nakuru in the year 1998 and it is the first organisation of this kind in Nakuru and all Kenya. Never before has there been in Kenya - not to speak of Nakuru - a union of associations that would take the problem of „Street Children“ into its hands and look for solutions!
The collaborators of SCANN go through the streets at night to collect the neglected, run-down and undernourished children in order to give them a secure place. They receive a place to sleep, food, clothes, they can go to school and get a home.
There are about 134 boys between three and a half to seventeen years of age living at SCANN now. The home can take up to 200 children.
SCANN has received merited praises by UNICEF KENYA and by the Ministry for Domestic Politics' Department for Children for their engagement for the street children.
